This is the Story of the Pizza Oven from start to finish....

We had to select the metal we wanted to use...

Then we had to have the metal cut to fit in the trailer to haul it home...

...nice and stacked up to fit on forklift...

895lbs...took five hours to haul the oven from the curb to the back of the house, one piece at a time, using a garbage dumpster and moving blankets...boys were in school or THEY would have been hauling and would have taken far less time.

unfortunately, two of the the three dome pieces were cracked and had to be replaced.

all parts delivered to final assembly location but unfortunately some were broken during shipping and had to be replaced.

Replacement parts delivered in time for a Father-Son Pizza Oven Construction Day!!

check this out...UPS guy brought the truck all the way to the back of the house to minimize us lugging the 607lbs of replacement parts to the kitchen.

above:  Fellow Teamster (UPS guy) drops off replacement and then the battery on his liftgate dies.  So Dave (also a fellow Teamster from way back) jumps the battery so lift gate can be raised and UPS guy can be on his way.

Initial layout, measurements, and markings.

a layer of sand to aid in leveling the cooking surface

assembly of all parts before mortar

mixing the mortar...no water on site yet...boys hauled water from neighbors house in buckets

Below: after I screamed and jumped back (boys thought I had gotten hurt mixing the mortar) I grabbed my camera and took a picture of this un-invited visitor, THEN pointed him out to the boys.  I think this was a highlight of the day as they each grabbed their own phones and started taking pictures, tossing little pebbles at it and watching him slither around as he explored our new house.  Once I came down from adrenalin rush we got back to work.

off he went...

80 Bricks...for the facia and deck of the oven (a project for another day)....

after a long hard day....in the car on the way home Vino says:  "Good Job Guys" and Nino say, "Thanks Dad for letting us work with you today"
